Job Title: Salon Assistant

Reports to: Salon Manager / Senior Stylists and Makeup Artists
Employment Type: Full-time 

Job Overview

The Hair and Makeup Salon Assistant supports stylists, makeup artists, and clients to ensure smooth daily operations in the salon. This role involves maintaining a clean and organized workspace, preparing clients for services, assisting with basic salon tasks, and providing exceptional customer service. It’s ideal for someone passionate about beauty, eager to learn, and ready to grow within the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet clients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures

  • Prepare clients for hair and makeup services (e.g., shampooing, cape setup, pre-makeup skin prep)

  • Assist hairstylists and makeup artists by organizing tools, mixing colors, and restocking products

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization standards throughout the salon, including tools, stations, and common areas

  • Manage towel laundry, salon supplies, and product inventory

  • Support front desk operations — scheduling appointments, answering phones, and processing payments when needed

  • Promote salon products and services to enhance the client experience

  • Help set up and support photo shoots, bridal sessions, and special events as required

  • Stay updated on salon trends, new techniques, and product knowledge

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Cosmetology school enrollment or certification preferred)

  • Prior salon or customer service experience is an asset but not required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Passion for beauty, makeup, and hair styling

  • Professional appearance and positive attitude

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment

• Greeting clients
